In Autumn the canal towpath hedgerows are bursting with Nature's goodies, in the form of crab apples, blackberries, elderberries, hawthorn, sloes and damsons. It is worth braving the spiky boughs to extract ingredients for jams and jellies to enjoy all year round!

With French family connections, I particularly like the French word for Blackberry, and feel it captures the enchanting quality and flavour of this delectable fruit. I have also been told that the second tune in this set resembles a French dance - something which is entirely coincidental.
